At Rosbeg I spent a very happy hour or two photographing Atlantic waves crashing and surging. The sky was overcast, the light was broken and the waves were big. It was something I had come to Donegal looking for. Spray was blowing over me and my gear, and very soon my lenses and filters were coated with salt.

</p><p>

I came away from there feeling certain that I had some very nice, dramatic, clichéd shots of Atlantic waves. I had really liked the two-dimensional, near-monotone headlands and cliffs across the bay, but was pretty sure that it had been too windy to get a clean shot with my long lens. But I was wrong.
